Rooted in Grace Episode 80: Don't Leave the Garden
🌿 Don’t Leave the Garden
How to gently come back when you feel yourself drifting
There’s a kind of drifting that happens so quietly…
we don’t even notice it at first.
Not a big disconnect.
Not a dramatic turning away.
Just a subtle shift.
You wake up.
Reach for your phone.
Step into the day.
And somewhere along the way…
you leave the garden.
The Drift We Don’t Talk About
It doesn’t feel like leaving God.
It feels like:
a little more rushing
a little more pressure
a little less peace
You’re still doing all the right things.
Still moving through your responsibilities.
But something feels… tighter.
And if you’ve ever felt that, you’re not alone.
This is the kind of drift most of us live in—
not separation…
just disconnection from awareness.
You Didn’t Lose Him
One of the most grounding truths we can come back to is this:
You didn’t leave His presence.
You only stepped out of awareness.
“The Lord is near to all who call on Him…” — Psalm 145:18
He is near:
when you feel centered
when you feel distracted
when the day already feels off
Nothing about His nearness changed.
Only your attention did.
Abiding Is Simpler Than We Think
Jesus said:
“Abide in Me…” — John 15:4
Not:
strive harder
fix everything
start over perfectly
Just… stay.
Remain.
And here’s the part we often miss:
Abiding isn’t something you achieve once.
It’s something you return to—again and again.
When the Day Feels Off
There are days that feel disorienting.
Not dramatic.
Just… off.
Like something slipped.
And we assume:
we’ve messed something up
we need to reset everything
we need to “get back on track”
But what if the invitation is much gentler than that?
What if all you need…
is to come back in one small moment?
A Gentle Way Back
Not with pressure.
Not with a long reset routine.
Just this:
Pause.
Breathe.
And whisper:
“Jesus, I’m here.”
“Help me stay.”
That’s it.
That is returning.
That is abiding.
A Simple Practice for Today
Today, just notice:
One moment where you feel:
rushed
tight
pulled back into striving
And instead of pushing through…
Pause for five seconds.
And say:
“Lord, You are near.”
“Help me stay.”
Not perfectly.
Just presently.
If You’ve Been Living in That Tension…
If you recognize that rhythm—
drifting, striving, coming back, repeating…
This is exactly the space Rooted Reset was created for.
It’s not about doing more or fixing yourself.
It’s about learning how to:
return gently instead of restarting harshly
stay aware of God in your real, everyday life
move from pressure into presence
We begin again soon, and you’re invited.
A Deeper Invitation to Stay
And if you want to build a life that feels more rooted, steady, and connected to God…
Rooted in Grace will walk with you through that.
It’s a guide to:
abiding in real life (not ideal life)
slowing down your spiritual rhythm
growing something steady, not performative
Final Word
You don’t have to fix the whole day.
You don’t have to start over.
You don’t have to hold everything together.
Just don’t leave the garden.
Stay.
And remain rooted in grace 🌿
